Horicon Marsh in August: Explore Bowhunting, Wild Women Workshop, and Monarchs!
HORICON, Wis. - Head to Horicon Marsh in August and take advantage of fun
(and free) activities, including a Wild Women Workshop and monarch butterfly
tagging.
* Aug. 23, 10-11 a.m. - Explore Bow Hunting
This event is perfect for kids in fourth grade and above who are interested
in bow hunting. Attendees will learn how to pursue game, take ethical shots,
and more. Target archery will be included. Best for ages 4th grade and
above.
* Aug. 25, 10-11 a.m. - Stories at the Marsh
Join a Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources educator for a "Mammal
Mania" themed storytelling and craft-making event at Horicon Marsh Education
and Visitor Center. This event is best for children ages 1-10.
* Aug. 27, 9a.m. to 3 p.m. - Wild Women Workshop
The Wild Women Workshop is a hands-on event designed for women ages 18 and
older. The workshop focuses on various outdoor skills, like backpacking,
fire starting, cast iron cooking, and archery. Pre-registration is required,
and attendance is limited to 20 participants. Contact Liz Herzmann at

* Aug. 30, 1-3 p.m. - Monarch Tagging
Attendees will have the opportunity to catch monarch butterflies and watch
as DNR staff tag these magnificent migrants as before they journey back to
Mexico.
