Gov. Walker and Sec. Stepp share excitement of 9-day with you

The nine-day gun season is near and if you’re like me, your gear is packed and you can’t wait to get to your hunting spot!

Before we all head out, Gov. Walker and I want to share a video message of appreciation with deer hunters, families, and all others who make Wisconsin’s deer hunting heritage what it is. Please take a moment to watch.

Also, I am excited to announce that tomorrow DNR will be launching its first free hunting and fishing guide mobile app just in time for the season!

Through the convenience of your phone, you can use the app to find places to hunt, registration locations, regulations, and more!

It also has GPS mapping features and a safety alert tool to keep help within arm's reach if you need it. Another great feature is the Trophy Case – for sharing photos of your hunt right from the tree stand! The iPhone version will be ready first with Android soon to follow. Visit dnr.wi.gov and search keyword “deer” to get the app and other information you seek before opening day!  

We are excited to be bridging old traditions with new technology this season – to make it easier for you to connect with each other, with DNR, and get information you may need for a safe and successful hunt!
