Field Notes: Adult Deer Survival Data, Fieldwork, and Help from SCI
Winter adult trapping is well underway. Our crew began collaring in late December and will continue through March, or as long as the freezing temperatures hold. In this issue of Field Notes, we take a look back at last year’s adult survival data. We dig into the numbers to talk about what they mean now and what we will learn in the future Then we get into the field with the crew to try out all the ways we trap deer. Last but not least, we check out how Safari Club International’s UTV donation has helped our crew in the field. Many of you have already gotten in touch with us to express your interest in volunteering with our late spring fawn collaring effort in Grant, Iowa and Dane Counties. Thank you to everyone who has already expressed interest! If you’d like to join the list for further Fawn Survey volunteer information, fill our quick online form. |
