Calling all deer hunters. Tell us what you see!
With the opening of the archery deer season Sept. 14, DNR researchers would like to know what hunters are seeing while out in the woods and fields.
The Deer Hunter Wildlife Survey lets hunters keep a tally of the deer they see, along with other animals they observe and how many.
The survey runs from Sept. 14 until Jan. 5 and is used to help inform wildlife management decisions.
To participate, hunters can submit daily record sheets with information such as:
- type and number of animals
- date hunted
- number of hours hunted
- county
- deer management unit
- weather conditions
Hunters can sign up for email alerts to receive reminders to submit observations and also receive a summary of the results at the end of the season.
Results from the 2012 and 2011 hunt are available on the deer hunter wildlife survey website.
