Bear hunting front page narrative:
Black bear are one of the most sought after big-game species throughout North America. In Wisconsin, black bear hunting is more popular than ever, thanks in part to a thriving population that continues to expand its range in the state and the abundance of publically accessible lands that bears call home.
Wisconsin annually ranks amongst the top states and/or provinces in terms of the number and size of bears harvested. During the 2011 hunting season, approximately 9,000 hunters harvested 4,257 bears, the second highest harvest on record! Wisconsin bear hunters can look forward to another great hunting season in 2012 where the season outlook is excellent. Good luck to all the hunters who were successful in drawing a tag this year!
