Diary of a Wisconsin Bear Guide 8-28-12

By Mike Foss

It was very exciting to view the new Cuddeback pictures at different bait stations this week. Some very nice bears are coming in regularly to feed.

Wisconsin Bear Baiting Wisconsin Bear Baiting
“Wood Tick a massive bear that took over Snaggle Tooth’s bait station.” “Off limits to harvest tags, sows with cubs still often provide ample entertainment for hunters waiting in a stand for a legal bear.”

Extra bait was dropped off, wall tents were put up, and fire wood and porta potties were ordered for bear camp. The garage is cleaned and cleared of all bait barrels and ready for the skinning and quartering to begin for 20 Wisconsin hunters. One more week of baiting hard and the anticipated 2012 bear season will be here.

A good friend of mine spent a few days with me in camp helping out.  His help was greatly appreciated. I don't know if it was the workout during the day in the field or the drive time just in traveling to each bait station, but by the end of the day we were knocked out and sleeping by 9:00 pm.

This coming week I will be putting the final touches in at bear camp. Until then, Good Hunting.

Mike
