Something’s In The Air...

Is anyone else out there ready for hunting season?  With abnormally cool temperatures creeping in for the first two weeks of august I bet that many of my fellow outdoorsman are getting the itch to get out in the woods and check those stands, maybe pay your trail cameras a visit or look at the growth of your favorite food plot.  My own personal experience has taken a turn into uncharted territory.  I was drawn for a coveted Wisconsin Black Bear tag.  I have never hunted bears before, (except Chicago Bears when they play the "PACK").

After calling upon everyone I knew who could advise about where I should bear hunt one name came up over and over.
http://www.runningwildguide.com/  Running Wild Guide is located just Northwest of Antigo WI.  Jim and Nicole have taken great care to explain exactly what I should expect and how I should prepare.  After my latest visit on Sunday August 18th, I have a clear picture in my mind of what to expect.  They took me to my stand site showed how to judge a bear by items present and explained where I can expect to see bears coming from.  We discussed shot placement as I will be hunting with a bow and what to expect after the shot.  I really got to understand much more about bears and the bear hunting tradition after spending a few hours with Jim and Nicole.

Needless to say I'm pumped about opening day on September 4th.  Don't forget the nuisance season for geese opens on Sunday September 1st and Archery Deer season will open on the 14th.  The anticipation of another great fall is building every day.  Good Luck on your 2013 hunting season and stay tuned for updates and more information.
