Diary of a Wisconsin Bear Guide 9-28-12
By Mike Foss
With a few bear bait stations still getting pounded 12 year old Payton Hamm from Tomahawk WI once again traveled to NWO with his Father Mitch to try his luck. I put him on a bait where I knew there was some daytime activity and sure enough, around 4:30 PM we got the call. The smile on his face said it all.
I am very proud of this young hunter; his enthusiasm to hunt hard and never give up was always there. I have always said "Hunt hard, have patience and you will be rewarded whether it be the animal you are pursuing or the experience you will gain".

My last bear hunter will be coming up this weekend. This late in the game I have totally changed my menu for bear bait. I am using cracked corn, bread, cereal, and powdered sugar topped with maple syrup. Switching the bait up has really turned on this certain bait station. Cross your fingers. Hopefully next week I will have another successful bear story to tell. Until next time…Good Hunting.
