After baiting and spraying Bacon scent on this tree, it’s common for bears to rub the scent all over them as this little guy is doing.
Hit it hard again this week placing stands and baiting. Bugs are still an issue but weather has been cooperating. While setting a stand I shoved some tree bark up my thumbnail and now it is infected. Did my own surgery, not going to tell you what it looked like but it wasn't pretty. Also have a small infection from a tick bite on my left leg and will have to watch that one closely. Not the first time I have had lymes disease.
While driving back from baiting I noticed a burly guy unloading his ATV at a local County Park only one mile from my home. He looked like he was baiting bears. I drove into my place, started to unload the buckets and ATV when I could hear an ATV coming down the road. It was the guy down at the park. “Great”, I thought to myself, “He's baiting bears right down the road but it’s all private.” I jumped on my ATV and drove down there to investigate. Found out he is a U.S. Government trapper trapping beavers to keep the Trout streams clear. Had a great conversation with him about bear encounters and his work with other critters.
