Wisconsin State Shoot
Whale-Tales prostaff The 2014 indoor season is wrapping up for me. With hundreds of hours of practice getting ready for the NFAA Wisconsin State Shoot, and all of the hours paid off. This year I had moved up an age group from cub to youth and had to move up to 20 yards. The week before I had shot my personal best, 292 18Xs, and that gave me great confidence that weekend. We came up to Wisconsin Rapids, where the shoot was held, on Friday so for one day we could relax before the big shoot. On Saturday I was really excited to shoot. Since state is a two day shoot, and Saturday was the first day, all age groups were not together. On the first day I shot next to two adults. They were very nice and helped me along the way and gave me lots of tips. That day I ended up shooting a 285 23Xs. Even though I didn’t shoot as good as the week before, I was still proud of myself. The second day I was shooting head to head against my age group. Even though it was head to head, I still wasn’t super nervous. That day I didn’t feel some of my shots were strong. I ended up shooting a 3 and I wasn’t very proud of myself. But I wasn’t going to let it stick in my head. The last couple rounds, felt really strong. That day I ended up shooting a 281 23Xs. I didn’t shoot as well as the first day but I still was proud. Overall I shot a 566 46Xs and ended up getting second place and lost by two points. Even though I didn’t take first place I am still proud of myself because it was my first year at 20 yards. This is one of the indoor shoots I look forward doing every year. I had such a great experience the past two years. I think taking second place will make me work harder for next year. Remember always keep on shooting your way to bullsyes! |
